Yield: 12-14 oz.
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: N/A
Skill level: Easy
INGREDIENTS
1-1 ½ cups hot COFFEE, brewed to your liking
BACON FAT (suggested about ½ - 1 Tablespoon)
MAPLE SYRUP or SUGAR, to taste (suggested about ½ - 1 Tablespoon)
Dash of SALT
1 raw EGG
DIRECTIONS
Using a high powered blender (immersion or traditional), place all ingredients except the egg (and shell, if using) into blending container.
Right before you begin to blend it, crack the egg into the mixture and drop in 1/2 or all of the eggshell (if using). Blend on highest setting until completely mixed and frothy. Don't put the egg in too soon or you'll either end up with egg-drop-coffee or a poached egg floating in your brew.
Pour into large mug, top with a sprinkle of cinnamon/sugar and/or salt, if desired and serve.
USE CASE
Drink this preparation any time you would like an extraordinary and delicious cup of coffee.
NOTES/VARIATIONS
This makes a smooth and creamy cup that can be very filling (especially depending on what you add, such as collagen) and easily multiplies. A good rule of thumb is one egg per cup of coffee. The rest is a matter of preference. If you opt for bacon fat, consider placing a candied bacon slice in the mug when serving. It’s a whole new take on bacon and eggs, eh?
Decaf and regular coffee work interchangeably and will not affect the taste.
Don’t want to do bacon fat? Substitute 1 generous pat of BUTTER or 1 Tablespoon of COCONUT OIL
If you really want to get fancy, rim your coffee mug with a little bacon fat and dip it in crushed bacon and sugar before filling or drizzle the edge of your mug with maple syrup and serve with a slice of cooked bacon as a stirrer.
Use any one or a combination of:
1/2 - 1 eggshell (make sure your egg is clean, first)
Splash of MCT or dab of coconut oil
Serving of collagen
Cocoa powder for a mocha coffee flavor
Vanilla or Almond extract, to taste
Other favorite sweetener such as honey or molasses
Dash of cinnamon/sugar, cayenne/similar pepper, grated orange or lemon peel, and/or a pinch of salt for garnish
As articulated in the What’s for Dinner article, always aim for the highest quality ingredients.
